Just got back spending most of the day pumping out my rental property in rahway. Rahway is a disaster area. Most roads were closed this morning all flooded. Trees down on roads and houses. St. Georges Ave is still closed.
Never had my little house flood till today, even in Floyd.
Sump pump held up till power went out, but I thought it would be OK when high tide passed at nine this morning. Then the river came down the street and filled the basement to the top... in only a few minutes. What a mess!
To top things off the neighbor thought no one would know about the covered up old oil tank from years ago. Oil slick and stench were everywhere. The Union County haz mat teams were there and I can expect the EPA to stop by tomorrow. The SOB's home has been in foreclosure for over a year (they are still living there tho).
I should have fun getting blood out of that stone.
Firemen said they have no intention on restoring power for a week. Basements have to be all pumped out and cleared first.
I have two people (both family) who went out of way to save my azz with pumps and generators. I am soooo grateful right now

Yea, I didn't buy it but thought I'd ask since we live near that area.

Belmar and Spring Lake both lost huge sections of their boardwalks, but the majority of the marinas in the area were fine. Police & fire crews were keeping sightseers to the West side of Rt. 35 in belmar yesterday as many sections of the boardwalk were completely washed-out or damaged.

Highlands was still flooded/closed as of yesterday morning, however, all boats in the Marina on The Bay and Clam Hut lots were fine with no observed or reported damage.

The new bridge over the Shrewsbury was still closed yesterday afternoon, so I didn't get to see how Sea Bright, Long Branch & Monmouth Beach made out, but based on how the river looked, there may be some truth to the claim that the river and the ocean got to meet each other on Rt. 36.

Power just came on in Plainfield this morning. No power for 28 hours.
My complex flooded as bad as I have ever seen it. (25 years)

No trees threw the roof and no evacuating...all in all lucky.
Union County is a disaster, and a real mess everywhere.
