This time of year on Long Beach Island you might get some blues. At night or dusk into night you can get croakers. You can rent a boat from Polly's Dock in Beach Haven. Follow the markers. The inter coastal is there. Look on the Internet or call Fisherman's Headquarters. There is the Beach Haven Charter association or something. They can get you to the right people for a shark charter if one is available.

At the Barnegat Inlet on the "rock pile" you can get sheapshead, blackfish, triggerfish. From the rock pile you may not get a keeper fluke or striper. Lots of boat traffic. There is a wall not far from the Inlet that has mussel beds and is great for blackfish.

If surf fishing is your thing. The Long Beach Island Surf Classic is terrific. It starts after Chowder Fest. It starts on Saturday, October 8 and will go to Sunday, December 4. Stripers and Blues. Plus the blackfish at the wall near the Inlet. It's a great time.

There is one party boat in Beach Haven and two in Barnegat Light. There used to be three. Jeff Gutman bought the Doris Mae. Before then there was four. The Miss LBI shut down and was sold. A number of charters in Barnegat Light. Sammy has the Mary M. Kind of big and you need a crowd. But there are others. Again, Fisherman's Headquarters can answer your questions. I've been a customer of theirs for over 40 years.

If you can go in the Fall. Do it. It's a terrific time of year to be on Long Beach Island. I go every year. Its my "big" vacation. I take 11 days. The crowds are gone. Most of the restaurants are open. The fishing is terrific.

Enjoy your summer vacation. But if you want a real "fishing" vacation. Go after Chowder Fest and enjoy.

I always find it funny when someone asks for specific reccos.....tons of unrelated stuff comes up...i guess its just me...

"rented place on the beach" im guessing ya want to fish right out the door? Chunk the surf at night. Big Browns will be waiting. Rays as well. Same as tossing chunksin the wash down south. Have fun!
