You guys better be careful on budd. The beach area is usually fine but one year we were fishing on 5" ice and started making holes to expand out and drilled into about a inch...I still don't know how the ice didn't break or how large the thin ice spot was but that place freezes weird.

I hear ya, I like a good BOURBON with my ice. What little ice fishing I have done was while skating/drinking. The ice fishing was just an excuse to get out, skate & drink. When did catch something it was usually a tiny perch or a bullhead....That was along time ago when I still had hair!

Be safe out there guys. See so many lunatics without being roped to a spike on GWL. Every year some jack ass turns his snowmobile into an artificial reef!

My next fishing trip will be MISQUITO LAGON chasing REDS & BLACK DRUM in a few weeks. That should hold me off until spring...

Now you're talkin'...The only reason I meet up with these guys at the ICE MnG's is to enjoy a little Bourbon on the Rocks...and some good grub, a nice cigar, plus the good company of maniacs! And I just booked a trip to Venice LA for a two days of Red Fishing and 2 days of new Orleans on the way back. Can't wait.

Ahhh, good old Mosquito Lagoon. I was down there maybe 5 years ago for a week in October with a buddy. We rented a canoe for 3 days and were on the water from sunrise to sunset. Lots of Speckled Trout, a few Redfish and lots of Snapper. Good luck down there!

Only two days in venice? Man I spent 5 days down there and they had to pry me away from the boat to leave. Only reason my buddy got me to leave is we were headed back to his house in Tampa Florida and he promised me we would go shoot some more of my bucket list species (talapia, armored catfish, and possible exotic species like south American cichlids)

After 5 days of shooting limits of reds, black drum, all the sheephead you could dream of, monster gator gar, big blue cats plus stingrays, mullet, needlefish, carp buffalo etc all night, filleting all morning and drinking all afternoon after we got back to my buddies house we passed out to the next morning when I had to catch my flight home. Don't think I slept more then 8 hours in 6 days minus the last night when we slept a good 14 hours haha. You will love it down there man

I'm going to Florida in a couple of weeks to learn how to drive an airboat and interview at a couple of places to run airboats for tourists. A lot of bow fishing done on airboats from what I'm learning. Have you ever bow fished from airboats?

I have caught anything other than a few gills from this place thru the ice. Tough going.
