Monksville

Just drove by for a member who asked for a report. Haven't driven by in a couple of weeks so didn't know what I'd find. All open water is the answer.

That's crazy how fast it melts, my cousin drove to Monksville yesterday and walked out about 3 to 4 feet out onto the lake and didn't want to walk out any more.

Re: Monksville

Last Friday I was thinking of taking the boat out on Monks but changed my mind. Later that day I drove on the causeway at the north end and it was frozen as far as I could see in both directions. I congratulated myself for not wasting a trip with the boat.

Then I went past the south ramp and saw a boat being trailered out. So out of curiosity I went down to the ramp and the water was completely open and there were half a dozen empty trailers in the parking lot. I almost went home and got my boat but a quick calculation told me by the time I came back with it I'd only have a half hour of daylight left for fishing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Sho uld have went, SKUNKY is not active until the sun goes down most of the time. Rarely do I fish during daylight hours unless going for MUSKY.
I asked shrimpman about monksville last friday, thank again for the report.
I forgot to post back on this thread.
Went out saturday morning in search of big girls.
arrived at 8am, 2 other boats there.
at about 9-10 the brigade arrived, another 4-5 boats still not bad for skunks.
As for the fish we only had 1 musky follow up off the deep timber.
at 2pm we decided to go re-lauch at the upper ramp since we only had trolling motor. trailored up the boat, drive to upper launch....locked up smh!
ice was 2.5-3" and stretched down toward the power lines.
epic day at the ville. from what i saw on fb, some jigmasters caught walleye that day.
