This has been beat to death

Feds mandated a 15 dollar salt water registry or a state license/registry to obtain numbers of those actually fishing .

Nj couldn’t agree on a license fee , so instead went with a free registry .
If you don’t want to sign up for the free registry , you can opt to pay 15 bucks to the Feds to allow you to meet the requirements .

While I also would like to see NJ have a saltwater license so we get the perks from it Nj bureaucrats won’t push for it because they don’t give a shit about funds they can’t get access to .

. Nj fisherman are the cheapest in the country .
Don’t do a dam thing to protect their interests from groups who would love to see them taken away .
Then are the loudest cry babies AFTER it’s too late .

Not all fishers are cheap but majority dont get too involved $$ or directly or involved at all when it comes to Rec Management issues. Played Golf yesterday with my fishing buddies and YES we talk to each other like that but as most guys know there is no disrespect just debate and we all stay friends no matter differences of opinion. Most of the guys on my fishing trips we went to kindergarten together and come from all walks of life but have discussions and get over any differences as quick as the discussions.

The main issue as stated for years here is NJ does NOT yet have an avenue to process SWL fees like FW so as you always say follow that money and the NJ SWL fees would disappear into oblivion with zero dollars going to Rec SW fish. Again getting sick and tired of posting about the differences here in NJ.
Spot on!

Tips have never been mandatory on any of the boats that I have worked on. That being said, tipping regardless of service only makes the bad/mediocre crews worse. Rewarding bad/poor service only encourages it. I have tipped low and told them why. I have also refused a tip from a crew abusing a;!hole. I don't expect it so when I got tips they were all blessings. If the boat/crew sucks don't fish with them . Don't promote bad/poor behavior.

Well said and what tips were always intended to be. You pay for the trip and experience and if crews works hard to make it a good experience it's a good thing to show your appreciation. The ones who do it right will always be taken care of, the ones who don't shouldn't be compensated for mediocrity.

Don't think anyone was saying "mandatory" tipping just saying you should factor the tip into your costs. Understand everyone doesn't have extra income but with most fares around $90 bucks not hard to come up with $18 more in any economy.

Of course if the service isn't up to par you put it back in your pocket or give it to the good mate, its ALAWAYS a CHOICE on a boat, an eatery, an uber etc etc. BUT when you get that good service be prepared to tip that service.

Knowing you have worked on boats and always respect, read your posts what about when you did 12 hours, got people off the bottom, untangled them, retied their rigs, netted and cleaned their fish, then cleaned up the trash they left behind and they complained and walked off stiffing (you) the mates?

Cant resist: I thought this was the bestest, most greatest. beyond belief economy in 6 months since the beginning of time ! LOL Everything the cheapest , lowest ever.

Dales529, You have to roll with the punches. I would rather have the boat sail and not make much than not sail. Knowing how things are with the economy I just do the right thing. Some times all we get is thank you. Other times we are truly blessed. It balances out in the end . I have ranted from time to time on this site. I'm only human. It helps clear my mind and stay on track.
I love fishing and if I can't fish then I help people fish.
