A lot of guys use crimps with circle hooks. I don't use either. If you're going to tie heavy mono, the uni knot is the best way to go.
I've been using 80 lb. Seaguar. I really don't think ya need it. What really works is super fresh bait strips, mackerel, or a lot of guys use salmon. I never had real good luck with bluefish. Meat Hunter |

X2 on salmon belly strips. Make sure they're thin though. Too much meat and it washes out and causes your rigs to spin

Salmon does work well. I have had pretty good success with bluefish as well. Like you said it has to be fresh. I have caught blue fish tile fishing and used as bait and it was great. i brought some blue fish from the store another time and they would not really touch it. Agree fresh is key.
