Ice Badger, 12 years ago in Maine, we fished Green Lake from a canoe rigged with a portable Humminbird & we located lake trout 63 feet down. We got Kastmasters among them--never got hit--but man, I had to backpaddle the canoe as my son jigged and vice versa. It was really hard positioning. in the canoe, but we did get jigs down there.
