The more I read about them, the more I think I was down there at the right places, just at the wrong time.
Seems like both species are starting to breed this time of year and get lockjaw. As Arnold says: I will be back. |

Are you supposed to kill the snakeheads up there? We are urged to kill them in Florida but it's not law yet. I have seen some of the best areas I've ever fished ruined by them.

The fish and wildlife department elecrocute the tidal creeks and ponds from time to time and remove hundreds of snakeheads a year. That likely helps keep some of their population down. But they are prolific breeders and are generally here to stay as a sportfish as far as I can tell!
The fishing scene in southern NJ loves them. |
