Shimano's support and attitude has always sucked, even if you speak to them at the shows, I don't even stop by their booths

I am having the reel serviced locally. (If they can find the parts) I have been contacted by Shimano. Not to repair the reel, but to tell them the name of the employee whom told me to toss it and buy another. They seem more interested in punishing an employee instead of serving the customer. I like their products but can I continue to support a company with such poor regard for their customers. I know Penn has turned to the dark side as well. so who's left?

Reelseat in Brielle is an excellent place to deal with any Shimano reel.

I to used to use Shimano. They feel that their sh$t don’t stink. May switch to either Okuma or Fin-Nor

Took 3 plus months for a friend to get his reels back from shimano this summer/fall. They apologized and stated they were having a tough time finding reliable service people. In all honesty, it is hard to find hard working reliable people these days.

Maybe Okuma is better theses days but everyone I ever used in the past lasted at best one season. I have a couple of older Fin-nors that have held up well.

I bought a Stradic CI4 last year and although it's a very smooth reel, the anti reverse slips from time to time when I yo-yo jig or go to set the hook. I know others who had the same issue and looked it up online and saw it's a well documented issue so I sent the reel back to their California repair center.

I'd give Shimano a pass if this were a $70 Wallmart reel but having spent $250 on their latest and greatest reel, I expected more... Seems like their quality and or engineering is slipping.

My fear is getting the reel back only to have the same issue again because of a design flaw and now I have a $250 boat anchor on my hands...

I hope they make it right, if not, I'm not going to continue to throw good money after bad and may look into the Diawa Ballistic... I know several people fishing them and they seem to be very pleased.
