The Gambler was out yesterday, Tuesday, fishing for striped bass with just a very small group of guys.
We cruised north and found lots of bird life in close to the shore. Steady shots of small bass, caught mostly on 4 or 2 oz AVA type lures. Tails or non-tails work just fine. Anything that mimics a sand eel will work. Just cast and crank fishing. Lots of fun. There are still some slot and keeper sized stripers around. Just need to be in the right place at the right time for the bigger fish. We are still fishing every day from 7:30 till 2:30, weather permitting. Next few days look cold but nice. We have hot coffee on and tasty sabrett hot dogs on the grill. Our heated cabin will warm you up between drifts. Hope to see you soon Still room on most of our offshore sea bass trips, coming at the end of this month.

The answer is, YES! Haha! You have to try everything til you find out what works! Try slow, try fast, try 5 speeds in between slow and fast! No set science to fishing! What works one day might not the next due to tides, wind, temperature, water clarity or what bait is around. ;-) |
