Default Tuna

Took the run on my boat yesterday with great seas. Arrived at 7am to loads of birds and a fleet of boats. 2 mins after first bait hits the water was game on till 11 am. With a five man limit and many released and broke off of yellows to 80 pounds we packed and cleaned up to be back at the dock early. Was by far best tuna fishing I’ve ever seen. Hope it stays this way and this blow doesn’t chase them off.

Wow Sucka- Nice report and I'm so jealous... Nice to have those Tuna and that insane action fairly close.

Jigging and popping, trolling or all the above??

Jigs and bait was the ticket for us. Others did get them on poppers. We had to have had 50 hook ups but breaking them off with light leaders was a issue

unfortunately it turned off big time.

Don't know what we did wrong. we were out there all day without a bite. We had tuna, Mahi, and Shark in the slick. They would not touch anything. Mostly 50# fluoro leader. Should have went to 30. I will be back as soon as the blow moves out. Did see a humpback breach 3 times and a bunch of other whales.

Yeah we got a couple on 40 during blitz’s but had to drop to twenty to get bites consistly. Stayed with 40 on the jigs

Damn, 20# leaders? That is light but I love it--never did it but thought about it--lightest I've used is 30# but that's on a PB. Congrats on a great trip and report. Way to go!!! Love those feeding frenzies...
