random question, but my 5 year old has been going crazy asking me to take him ice fishing, which is out of the blue because in spring/summer/fall he had zero interest in doing anything besides digging worms. can we just head out and find some open holes in the cove and drop some trout magnets down? should i stop and pickup some minnows, worms, is it anything like panfishing in summer? i have never fished it way too lazy but dont want to skunk out.

re: safety gear, going to make him wear a pfd, he has studded boots already, just need to get some ice picks, rope
