I fished under the bridge that leads to South bound Brook at least a month ago and got nothing either.

Wading down east where green brook empties gets pretty deeper and I found that there's some vegetation around those parts.

It's hard to find any pools where the water slows down enough, wouldnt you agree?

Actually in a river I am constantly looking for cuts and seams. Deep water is probably the easiest to fish. After fishing the Upper Big D and East and West branch I am amazed of how shallow the water (trout in particular) live in.
Large rivers can be a tough nut to crack sometimes, and the Raritan is no exception. After seeing Shucker pull the big Hybrid out of 2 feet of water I am convinced that deeper isn't always necessarily better.

I have had similar issues fishing the Raritan in South Bound Brook between Queens Bridge and the 287 bridges (both upstream and downstream). From where I live that is the easiest section of the Raritan for me to get to and fish (I park at the lock on canal rd. By Queens Bridge) but I never seem to have much luck. I usually end up doing better in the canal along that same section.
