Thanks fellas...if I could post how epic it felt each time I set the hook and started fighting on the homemade stuff I would definitely share the link.
Bunker D, the flatfish I actually made 1st and the darker one was the 1st of the flatfish. It's swim on the retrieval was off a touch and I was able to tweak what I needed on the gold one to swim right. Works perfect though...I luv me some Lazy Ikes!!
Cris, was hoping you would chime in here. Definitely not coincidence that you landed those bass like that. I think what you said is spot on and just that lil bit can make a huge difference! Would ask if you could post some pics of some of your homemade stuff but wouldn't want ppl trying to duplicate your 1of a kind lure/color schemes. I tried messing around with softbaits in the microwave poured into a bootleg mold. Can say it's GOTTA be easier with the right supplies!

Yeah I tried doing it ghetto style by making silicone caulk less viscous with xylene and making molds of clay masters I made. It def worked, but not well, and was a huge pita! So I splurged on some stuff from make lure.com

Cpr my biggest fluke 28.5" on a bucktail I made from scratch using a do-it mold and powder paint. The materials aren't cheap, but I've def made much more bucktails than its all worth.

Most of the cooler looking stuff I've done like weird buzz baits and stuff doesn't catch any fish haha.

That's awesome! Catching fish on your own lures is definitely something I want to try!

Hit the river again today before the heat started beating me up and had some more luck on my lure! Connected with a few fish but while in range of my makeshift tripod, was able to get a small one on vid. Just a cell phone camera so bear with me.

I checked out the video. Very nice catching fish on a homemade lure. Didn't take long for you to get the gator on the line either. nice catch and release
