The "shallows" at spruce provide minimal coverage for smaller fish. There's virtually no weeds in that place. The smaller fish hide under rocks and sunken tree branches. That's about it. It's been fine for years. The drawn downs the last three years have done nothing to really impact fish populations. Actually, I've caught more largemouth and smallmouth bass there this year than I have in the past 3-4 yrs. Bass fry are all over the place too.
