Didn't read all the posts on this thread??
Pike will bite whenever, sometimes more than others. But presentation & location is just as important as timing. Throwing 1 lure while standing in 1 place will not produce the best results. I like to see guys showing up after me to a spot, not catch anything, and leave sooner than I do...shows some type of dedication/determination, or lack thereof. I know I always have more of a chance on landing a nice fish when on an outing with my friends because I
know I'll be casting more, trying more lures, & covering more ground...(not talking ice fishing). But same mentality, no lazy bones...cut more holes dammit!! The more you try out, the more tricks you'll have up your sleeve. No half steppin.
