No, I am one of about a dozen fishermen who put this contest together for all of the other fishermen out there who participated in the defunct contest of the past. It seems there are a lot of guys/gals who might have never caught one of these fish or gave it an honest attempt. They are flat out fighters whether from shore or from a boat. Don't let anyone tell you any different. If they are not interested that is fine

Maybe I was out of line with the poser comment, but it seems many today go through the motions and make excuses rather than expand their opportunities past the stocking truck.

I agree with the Predator. There's nothing like wading for Shad in the Big D. We had a bad experience with one of the more popular shad charters last year. A lot of hype form the boat but very little excitement. Yes you, will catch more fish from a boat but IMO you can't compare the two. So much more of a fight and way more exciting form shore. Weather is finally gonna break and I'll be at the Gap this weekend . Hopefully with a good report.
