I checked out the N. Branch here in town, Bedminster, yesterday, and that water is the lowest, clearest I've seen this early in some time. Loads of trout in clear view, we saw four caught just in passing, walking the Hike & Bike trail with the black Lab. Of course, seeing all those fish, I had a hankering to get up while still dark and sneak over to fish well before sun-up, but I just remain busy as a damn badger. I've got the notion of rigging up my 2-weight TFO, doing just that--getting up real early--and casting nymphs, but may pass on this unusual opportunity with that clear water.

Trout sometimes just love those spinners, and won't hit any bait. There's been times where i caught rainbows on rooster tails & blue fox's while those using power bait etc. got nothing.

Butterworms. Case closed.
I wrecked them on SBR Saturday afternoon on butters. People around me catching nada on meal worms, plugs, jigs, spinners and crawlers. They can't resist the juicy butters.

So far in I've only landed 4 two Sunday and two yesterday but all were caught on a silver spinner. I've thrown everything in the box at them but the silver spinner is the only lure thats worked so far. I've yet to see anyone else catch anything most were using worms and powerbait.

Agree with Cuz, was on the S. Branch tonight, the silver produced while gold and rainbow did not get a hit.

No hatch???? Trout eat 90% below water.. no doubt shinny spinners catch big agressive fish but a well presented fly almost never gets rejected
