Used to keep a boat back in Morgan Marina and never saw the inlet that low

Funny story... We were headed back in from night fishing for Stripers one evening in the fall... It was pretty late probably 11:30 or so...

We slow down to turn the corner into the inlet and I hear a faint "help.... help..... help" .... We spot a guy and a girl who apparently walked out the to end of the green side jetty while it was low tide and it's now hide tide and they are stuck out on the tip.

We nosed the bow pulpit near to the jetty and the guy grabs the pulpit and flips himself up and into the boat no problem... Now it's the ladies turn.

She grabs the pulpit but can't swing herself up into the boat and since she is a bit on the heavier side, we can't pull her up on the boat either.

I tell her "You have to let go and get back on the jetty" but she is clinging the pulpit upside down like a crab and there is no convincing her to let go.

We go real slow into the inlet down the wall where the jetty ends and find a place to beach the front of the boat on to the sand. She let's go and starts walking away and as quickly as he got in, he jumps out off the boat onto the beach after her. Never got their names or had any sort of conversation at all.....

Me and Russ are staring at each other in disbelief like, did that just happen??

All is well that ends well and after a few minutes of silence and letting everything that just happened sink in, I turn to Russ and say.... "Man that guy's going to have a long cold ride back home... I'll bet she never goes fishing with him again"

You can't make this stuff up

I guess someone drove out on the flats with those ruts?

A good way to know what the bottom looks like. I always knew east of the inlet was shallow. But I never knew it was close to the inlet approach.

Taking into boats into Morgan under tow from Keyport you tend to cut the corner. This shows you clearly can not.

GREAT PICTURE!

Gerry growing up within a mile of Morgan bridge, we saw plenty of guys stuck out on the lolly pop when the tide came in, always laughed, like hey you don't see the water rising? That's why the Robert E. Lee side was better, couldn't get stuck out there. Back in the 60's you could always tell when the Stripers were in by all the fires on the beach, from the jetty to Gerrity's Breeze Inn

Wow - I had no idea you had to give that green side such a wide birth coming into that inlet... I knew it was shallow but did not think it was that shallow.
