go on mercs website and look for the certification that makes them spec that oil. Then just find a different brand in the same weight that has that spec. The merc oil can be had anywhere including walmart and just about every marina. It does have an additive for water that will emulsify it and not let it break down the oil, something else too. I have a few quarts of it on my shelf in garage, tell us where your located and I can point u to the nearest place that has it. Or stop by walmart and grab 2 quarts in the boating aisle, yours takes about a quart and a third....btw not all 9.9 mercs have oil filters, depends which model you have. I recommend running the motor 10-15 hours and then changing the oil to get rid of any metal particles from break-in, then each season or 100 hours whichever comes first
