Awesome trout! I think since most of them are stocked, they are more inclined to bite anything that smells like or resembles their hatchery food including powerbait doughballs. Any fly pattern that looks like a yellow egg/ blob should get a hit.
I have even found small yellow colored pieces of sticks in some of the trout i kept. They really react to that yellow color.

Very true about them loving yellow....Its been the #1 selling color of powerbait doe since the stuff came out, however many yrs. ago...But it not just a stockie thing....There are fly patterns from long, long ago that had yellow tied into the pattern because the fisherman and tyers knew that yellow was a possitive attractor for the trout....One of the more famous old time patterns is the mickey finn.... Red is also a key factor in its decades upon decades success in catching and fooling trout...The mickey finn is propably the most recognizable fly patterns in the world, in my opinoin thats because of its fish catching abilities..
