![]() Yep- very important to keep the boat in gear while fighting a fish too. Not only for the reasons
Lou mentioned, but the stifness of the wire and the weight of the spool will give the fish the leverage they need to spit the hook if you don't keep the line tight. No rod pumping while reeling either. Keep the boat in gear and the rod tip high and bent to keep constant and steady pressure on the fish.
