Default Last few days...

Bank beated the PR mon/wed/thurs after work. About an hour each eve. Mostly smallish bass but a bunch of pike too up to 30". Thursday was best - 8 pike in about an hour just before dark. Still no baby pike seen or caught. Usually they are stocked by now. I wonder where they are? River is low, mud is deep. Actually lost my boot in the mud. Had to reach in and grab it. It took both hands to get it out. That muck is lethal!

Little fly fishing tuesday evening. Got a bunch of sunnies and crappie.

Yesterday hit a Pa reservoir that I love. For one thing it has many species - up to 9 that I can get on my spinners. Best thing about it though is no boats, no swimming, no wading - no nothing - just fishing. Sooo much more relaxing taking my time fishing not worrying about those things. Those rules really keep the people away(5 hours on a nice day only one other angler seen).

I must say though as much as I love to toss my buzzbait around, clearwater lakes/reservoirs are terrible for buzzbaits - at least for me. Not one hit in 90 minutes. I switched to a small Panther Martin and caught fish after fish which lead to the highlight of the day: hooked smallish perch and as I'm reeling it towards shore, big bass(eh about 17-18") slams it. I had it on for about 3-4 seconds before it shook loose. Lost the fish but still cool to see. Later switched back to a buzzbait, threw it near some weeds, big pick slams it but somehow cuts the line AND send the lure flying about 20' into deeper water. I love pickerel but damn they piss me off sometimes

Those sound like great trips. So Passaic Pike like to bite a lot before sundown just like bass?

Not sure but thats when I'm there. Ive had almost no success early morning. Most seem to come with shade on water.
