Default Mullica White Perch

Is there any ice on the Mullica? There used to be great white perch fishing just west of the GSP bridge once that area froze solid. What's it like now? The "season" there never lasted very long but it was very good while it did........but that was "back in the day".

Call down to Scott's Bait and Tackle in Mystic Island. If he's in the shop he'll fill you in.

The big deep dredge hole in Collins Cove has been filling in for years, and from what I gather it isn't near as attractive to white perch as it was back in the 60's 70's and early 80's.. I would get more info than that, but I recall that even by the late 80's when I lived in Forked River, the local shops were telling me that the big white perch in Collins Cove weren't there any more.. At least not in any big numbers.. Also I DO know that Mullica River ice is very tenuous, even in cold winters like this one.. Personally, I would not go out on it, but thats just me.... I could be wrong, things may have changed and gotten better at some point, but I would research it before going down there. bob

Just came over the Mullica. It's frozen but no one was on it. The ice looked thin, but one of the shallow coves by Exit 50 right off the GSP was frozen with several fishermen tending their tipups. It's cold in south Jersey too.

The fish aren't there in any numbers anymore.. That big hole that kept them there is about gone.. It had been "fading" for decades... bob
