![]() Thanks for all the info guys. I must say i am having second thoughts on the HPDI. A 4 stroke may be worth the extra money.

![]() Just look on any of the boating classified sites and you will see that boats with HDPIs sell for way less then their peers with 4 strokes.
Some people have them and have had no issues but there are definitely people who have. Is the issue blown out of proportion, hard to say but they do have a bad reputation.

![]() I've run HPDI's for a few years now. If the boat has been sitting awhile drain the fuel +change the filters. As has been stated HPDI's are fuel sensitive. The most common filter problem I've found to be the HP filter. It's also the most expensive $90. The good news is they let you know by dropping RPM for a second intermittently for a very long time before they fail. I know people who never change this filter, but I use mine a lot and change them every other season. Yammi 4 stroke are good engines but believe they had some problems. I think it had to due with salt water entering the exhaust 2000-2007. I've heard that was a costly fix. I prefer Yamaha's but been looking around for quite a few years now and haven't found any outboards that doesn't have some kind of issue. If anybody knows of one please let me know and I'll run out and buy it today.
