Not sure how you are doing it but you need to be trollin a little faster and jerk the J's like you do the flies! Long lines 250+ back Most if not all of them will be in the top 5-15 feet of water. Need to get them to strike out of reaction. Just cruising along will not do it usually towing the lures. I have had similar results the last few times I was up there. Ended up with a few lakers after trying without success for the rainbows! Go get em' Buddy!!!!

Going between 2-2.5. You think that's fast enough or even faster? I'm at least 400 ft back to be safe with 6 lbs leader. 2 full days nothing but lakers. Gotta change lakes to keep my sanity haha. Hitting mc Friday if the wind is good or waway or aero if not.

I troll at 1.2-1.6 for Lakers and 1.6-2.4 for others. Works for me with planers back 300+, Catchem up.

I think you'll get tons of advice on trolling for trout..Thats because there's plenty of tactics that work..Trick is when to use what tactic and where to use it...If you have the time when your out there good idea is just fast cruise areas that have structure changes, long point, fast drop offs, but what u'll be doing is check for bait balls or bait schools and what depth they are at, then u take it from there..Trout will be where the bait is..Lakers mite just be on bottom..Inactive alot of the time..Sometimes slow drifting or slow row trolling with live bait works better than moving fast trolling lures..Don't give up trolling for trout in N.J. Not the easiest task.. Nor the best trout producing state..Good luck
