[QUOTE=Lard Almighty;374395]I met up with a couple of friends and their boat for a morning of fishing at Mercer Lake. I and my friend had never fished it before /QUOTE]

I live right down the road from this lake, and I used to fish it often about 25 years ago when it was still filling after being dammed. At that time, it was still just a wide stream, but it was a really terrific place for super large pickerel...but not so much now.

Last time I was there there was an Asian gentleman sitting in a beach chair on the bank near the Picnic Pavilion. He was fishing with several salt-water sized rods in sand spikes stuck in the bank. He was fishing with his homemade corn meal dough balls. On a stringer, he had a few medium sized carp (5-8 pounds) and was complaining about catching none larger. He said he also caught several big Channel Cats, which he didn't want and returned to the water.
