.
I don't think we have many Bowfin in New Jersey. I know I never caught anything that looks like that. I checked their range map and it looks like they don't live around me.

I believe theyre stocked in waywayanda state park in upper greenwood lake as well.

Used to catch them on the Little Pee Dee River behind Myrtle Beach AFB in South Carolina. Extremely powerful fish that could spool you.

Yeah, I caught one in FLA and thought it was a snakehead...NO a bowfin...cool fish
