Bassin' with the Bubbster

Got a tip of a hot local bite (thanks jeremy!), so me and the kid ditched the trout for the day and headed out for some bass action...knucklehead that I am, I did not bring the color senkos recommended, so it was a little slow at first, Bubba occupied himself with the sunnies (he is hellbent on catching a 9" one so he can get a skillful angler award, but the best we have gotten this year in 8 3/4")


found a few crappie while we were at it, too...

Looked down at my feet after a while, and low and behold, somebody had dropped a senko on the ground right where we were at...looked in good enough shape, so I threw it on and gave it a whirl...well, that was the magic ticket, soon as it hit the water, got slammed by a decent bass...Once I was sure she was hooked well enough, I passed the rod off to the kid, who landed our biggest bass of the season so far...

Of course, we lost the 'magic senko' as the kid now refers to it on the next cast, so that was our only one of the night (wouldn't hit any other colors I had, nor the floating rapalas or keitechs I had in my vest)... hoping to be at it again tomorrow night, after we stock up on some purples
