I guess I have to forget all I've learned about bass fishing when I go after them there. The idea of going deep for bass is sort of alien to me.
Research som stuff about california bass fisherman....RV is exactly the types of lakes they know how to fish....With NO state stockie rainbows going in RV this yr the giant largemouth will have to sightly alter there diets and maybe eat ur 20 doll hair swimbait

I'm not saying that they're not in there. RV isn't a great bass lake, but there are some very nice fish in there. I'm just saying that they're tough to catch in the winter.

And there are definately some 8lb LMB in there. I've seen some bass that make my heart skip a beat when they swim by.

This is an RV Bass. One of the bigger ones I've caught, but not an uncommon fish. Maybe 5lbs. The bass bigger than this seem to just know what a boat looks like.

A couple of years back, near dusk on 11/30, I was doing my regular wade & casting a Yo Zuri for trout along the eastern shore of RVR.

Reeling in, as the lure rose to the surface 3' from me, a huge bass came out of the water & nailed it.

@ 24” it was the largest LMB that I ever caught & released.
