Mark is right about the day temps not doing much damage. We don't get much daylight this time of year and the sun doesn't get that high. We'll only have warm temps for a few hours during the day and we should make ice at night.

Good day on the ice. Pickeral kept us busy for a while. Thanx for taking me to your honey hole Mikey! 3 inches of water on top of 2-2.5 inches of ice by the time we left at 145. Should freeze up good over night. Alex was a funny dude, he didn't want anything to do with the ice, LOL!!!!! Finally got him to come out and ice his first Pickeral on a tip-up. Good times!!!!
Northern NJ will be good to go all week. Good start to the season with no SKUNK!!!! Making ice all week!!!! YEA BUDDY!!! FLAG!!!

Good job guys getting some snot rockets....That's alot of fun through the ice.....
Even though you cannot fish it until the spring, despite the cold we have been having, stll alot of NNJ still is 1/2 frozen.....I noticed it on several NNJ waters this weekend....Some of the smaller bodies were all frozen as I saw some ice skaters out there, but be careful still..I have all my tipups, auger, and jigging rods ready to go as soon as what I believe to be totally safe ice(for me it's six inches thick or more)..supposed to be high 40's by Thursday......that will be a day for trout for me for sure...... Here's a shot of Oak Ridge from Rt. 23 yesterday afternoon....notice only 1/2 frozen, 1/2 open..... ![]() Here's another scenery pic from another spot....this place also had alot of open water..... ![]() Last edited by iceehot6766; 12-16-2013 at 07:01 AM.. |
