Can't speak for laminate or loomis but st croix has Keegan guides on all there new rods. Much more durable guide. Less exposed ceramic very durable.

Thumbs up Re: St. Croix/Loomis/lamiglas

i own a few of each, this past summer i purchased a fish poison for black fishing and was so impressed that i bought six more rods to cover other species inshore and off shore. mass produced rods are ok but don't have the quality of a rod like Kevin Bogans. its christmas time just ask the wife to stop in at his shop and get a gift certificate, then go and personally discuss your rod preferences with Kevin, he will guide you as to any and pro's or cons, and build you your own custom for less than most mass produced cost, and Kevin stands behind his work with warrantee!

About time..... As a rod builder.... it drives me crazy to see a quality blank, a decent layout....... but cheap guides!!!! I see it often..... its just one of those things!
