My friend Zach went out on Friday at Spruce Run with a friend of his. They caught 3 catfish on shiners, two 4 pounders and a 5.2lb. Not quite as good a bite as the previous Tuesday, but still way better than most days in the winter. Good enough to make me jealous of them while I was at work!
Then I went out by myself on Sunday for a few hours at Spruce. Fishing was real slow. Seems like the extremely low overnight temps and wind really ruined the bite. Either way, I ended up landing a 25" pike after almost 2 hours of nothing. After that I decided to leave and try another spot. I go to my car, press my door opener button, and nothing happens. The button broke. To make matters worse my driver side door handle broke off 2 weeks ago and I couldn't open that door from the outside. So I was locked out of my car. UGH. Called AAA and hoped they would find my car before my phone battery died since I was parked in a random roadside pull off. Luckily, while waiting for AAA, I got another fish! This time a 4lb catfish I took home for dinner. Guess getting locked out of my car wasn't the worst thing that could happen since it got me 1 more fish. I was out for 4-5 hours in total. Pretty slow day, but the pike made up for it. I was happy.
