Egg sinkers fray the line.If you want a longer cast shorten up your leader.Once the rig hits the bottom you can let another 18'' out and you have a longer leader.Like you said to change your weight is a pain.Stick with the fish finder rig but use a 18'' leader and no more.Good luck this spring!!
