Now this is funny. Your post is awesome. Paul Davis is who sponsored the bill. Yep you guessed it ............ Drum roll please...... He is a proud member of the GOP . LOL nothing says "big government " like a Maine GOP house rep.

This has been surfacing on Facebook as well. The legislation is currently proposed for the state of Maine. It will only be a matter of time before other states see fit to adopt this as well. Supporting Keep America Fishing's efforts will help to get out in front of this before it becomes a state to state issue. Can't imagine not using GULP here or DOA products in FLA if this becomes widespread reality. What's next? Epoxy or lure finishes???

He's also an "avid hunter, fisherman, and snowmobiler," according to his web site. It doesn't seem to make much sense, but I'd like to see his rationale for it instead of all the (predictable and probably warranted) Internet outrage. Tough to search on his site, but there must be a position paper somewhere.
Banning biodegradable lures is especially puzzling.

This whole thing smells funny to me. I clicked the "Contact Us" link at the top of the Keep America Fishing home page and asked them for more specifics on the alleged bill, and they haven't responded for 2 days. They also have a big "Donate" link there, and drumming up business on the site, plus getting names and addresses of fishermen, could be their real motivation.
I also contacted the Maine legislator who supposedly sponsored the alleged bill, and he hasn't replied in 2 days either, but may be unavailable or something. There's no rhyme or reason for what's described in the OP and creating outrage all over the Internet, and I'm wondering if it's just another urban legend. I just get swamped with people raising hell about it when I Google search it, and on the congressman's own web page, there was no proposed Maine legislation at all on the specified date, nor does searching of the topic bring up any hits.
I'll update on here if either of my emails is answered.
