if you want to enter your son into the tourney they hold, you should get there super early. guys start filling the shoreline before 5. By 8AM, you're lucky if you can get a spot.
Agreed about the boats and adults. Learned my lesson a couple years ago when I brought my niece down there. 14' aluminum boat with 4 adults dropped anchor 20' right in front of me, leaving my niece literally no where to cast!
They have hot dogs and drinks, as well as supply some power bait and meal worms.

As said before, get there by 6 at the latest to find a spot.
The adults pretty much ruin it for most kids as I believe some must sleep overnight.
With that being said, my kids always manage to have a good time and catch a couple of trout.
Powerbait, worms, mealies, all work, live minnows/fatheads are the true ticket.
