cant go wrong with that 5 wt but get casting lessons through a friend or club
learn how to present a fly under many different situations!

woolly buggers - olive, black, dumbell eyes/bead headed/ and plain; Wooly Worms; Hairs Ear Nymph (bead head and plain); Prince Nymph; Elk Hair Caddis (tan and black); egg flies; streamers of various types. Some hopper imitations. AND of course stone flies: black and other colors.
everyone will have their favorite, must have, fly or flies IMO start with wooly buggers and go from there ![]() Keep it simple. If fish are rising, try various dry flies. If they are not, fish deep. If you see bait fish, then fish streamers, or buggers.

I would pick up a few different types of flys.. Get a few Bead Heads in different colors and sizes.. few dry flys.. and like others have said are all good flys to start with and produce fish..
