Have there always been pike in that lake? Curious if any made it up there during the flood of doom...

Yes, the state stocks Northerns in there. The state record Pike came out of there a few years ago. All the ones I've hooked up with have been while bass fishing (no leader) and every time I've targeted them (spinnerbaits, leaders, etc.), I haven't caught one, so I don't know lol.

Nice job Skunk. I've always done well up there ice fishing, but have never gotten a pike from Pompton. I've gotten them from Budd through the ice though.
DBoyd, they've been stocking that lake with pike for a long time. The state record (reportedly) came out of there. Pompton Lake, Pompton River and the Passaic that it joins up with all get their own allotment of northerns every year and all are more of the heavily stocked waters in NJ. They're in there. |
