Why not Old School it and "BEAT THE SHIT OUTTA THEM!! Politically correct BS will put you out of business!

Same thing happened to Reno (the clam man) in Belford....Always left a box open where guys would take what they needed and put the money in a drop box, not only did they steal the clams, but the drop box also!!! Ruined it for everyone......Reno probably would have given Free clams to guys who couldn't afford it if they asked, but now, everyone is screwed......I have no use for a thief.

NJ is crawling with crooks these days, but the same thing happened here in NY state to a small bait/tackle place that gave full access 24 hours on the honor system.. some ******* took all his bait, all his tackle, and the cash box... Guy closed it down, and that was the end of the really nice little shop we had any time we needed it... Get those pricks into court. That will cool down those hot little hands... bob

We have to prove how much was taken. In the videos there is no way to count each bunker or clam. There is no forced entry or trespassing because we leave the coolers full by our front door. Unless we can prove the value over a certain amount, nothing happens to them. If I post the info on a public forum, I am open to law suits for violating a criminals rights. Its a he said / she said as far as value that I will lose in court every time.

I was all ready the first time it happened. But I was told its a loser. Nobody broke in, they simply helped themselves to something left out after hours. Would spend more in court than its worth to watch them get a slap on the wrist, MAYBE! Unless they had a prior record or something. Best bet is ID them to the locals and chase them off the fishng spots when they are spotted. No violence, the shame of others knowing is enough to chase them away and stop it.

In the end...... they have more rights to steal from me than I have to go after them.

Just post a still frame from the camera, ASKING If anyone knows them , at this point you dont even have to imply why, just that you would like to know who they are

Reno was my clam guy for years..... one of the nicest guys you will ever meet!! One night I had to go pick up 20 bags after he delivered and found a few characters that had no intentions of paying until I said something. They thought i worked for him because we were loading the truck up.

I miss Reno!!! No doubt he would have given them away if a fisherman had no money! Great guy!!

the law says you need to declare the value of what was stolen. if it is 10 grand or above it is grand thief. If the clams and bunker were/intended " used for stripers" and stripers can not be sold commercially, that would make them priceless. therically if each bunker or clam catches one striper, then that would be grand thief. the difference between grand and petty thief if that grand thief will force police to do a more, not just file some paperwork. Loop holes work great.

I had 2 guys steal some sheet metal from me that was a component for some products i make. The sheet metal was worth 2000. but the finished product is worth 180000. that makes it grand thief.
