Time to stop the 24hr coolers again - Sorry guys! The clam/bunker thieves are back!
 

Once again, we have summer roll around and we are losing all of our fresh clams & bunker we leave out 24hrs. I dont mind missing a few here and there, but when everything is stolen, its time to stop again!

4 times in 6 days this past week, so I have no choice but to stop leaving it out. Im sorry to my locals who use it all year, but you guys know the deal. I will show a few of you the video, so you know when the guys responsible are fishing next to you. ;)

Maybe start up in the Fall again, but the thieves are back again and I am not losing everything to them. Just know you pissed off the guys who fish the area and we will show your mug shot to them. :)

Hours are posted on the website, have to grab them before we close now. You can thank the guys who caused it. There are 2 of them. ;)

Are police notified when this occurs? I know if they have a picture or video they will send out an alert with a summary of incident statewide to all law enforcement.

Cant post pics, because the thieves have rights that I have to abide by! :rolleyes:

This happens every year, usually starts around Memorial Day, but this year we made it an extra month or so. I appreciate the offers, but been down this road last 4 or 5 years.


The local guys who fish hard will know who they are and a few times we ran them off the beaches. Its one thing to take a few extra, I expect that, to be honest. Its another thing to wipe out 50 -60 bunker, bushel of clams at one time. That's when I have to stop it, or raise my prices to cover the cost. I don't want to raise the prices. Not fair to you guys.

I dont get people. :confused: They would have been better off stealing a few all summer, rather than get it all at once. This just tells me they are dumb a$$es. :D

Damn, I don't understand these guys!!!!!!!!! you do us fishermen a favor of making bait availible when at the time you can't get it anywhere else and these DIRT BAGS!!!!!!! gotta mess it up for everyone!!!!!! Unbelieveble...... Please know that the guys that are on the up and up apreciate it :-) I tottaly understand, no one can afford to get ripped off these days.

just curious... if it's been happening so frequently, why don't you guys set a trap? Clearly these idiots are as dumb as animals, so treat them like it.



edit: actually nvm, just realized u'd probably get some unsuspecting customer in it as well.

We have had this issue cor last 4 years now. Usually starts around Memorial Day, so we had something extra ready. When it got to be a month without it happening, we figured it would stop. Then.....the last few days its been happening again. These guys are on camera. I cant legally post it. Can you believe it?

We have them though. 3 years ago the guy walked in the shop and I added the extra bait to his bill..... it was priceless! He went to car and never came back. They get creative.... walking backwards to hide their face, parking at liqour store, its funny to watch. Their identity is already being put out there to the right people. They will have to find a new area to fish in a few days.

New area to fish??, I guess I am missing something.. if you have video, know who the thieves are etc, why aren't the police hauling their asses in??.. That would put a stop to it forever.. A few weeks in the county slammer, full restitution to you and a big fine, along with some community service... Are the police involved with this??.. If not they should be.
NJ is crawling with crooks these days, but the same thing happened here in NY state to a small bait/tackle place that gave full access 24 hours on the honor system.. some ******* took all his bait, all his tackle, and the cash box... Guy closed it down, and that was the end of the really nice little shop we had any time we needed it... Get those pricks into court. That will cool down those hot little hands... bob
