Grab some of those ugly red eyed cicadas and head out to the ponds and streams. Catfish really love them, but bass and pickerel love to pick them off the surface.

i dug up a couple cicada grubs just under the surface today in my garden. they spend most of their lives way deeper in the ground, so they will be emerging around here (morris county) very soon.

Cool/cold spring has delayed them. Ground temperature is a big factor in emergence time. With 3-4 days near or at 90F this week, they will be out in force. Cicada killers can't wait...

Saw a bunch in Edison this morning near Oak Tree RD and Grove. Smaller than I remember when I was a kid.

I was in 6th grade when they were last out in force. Can't wait to use some on hooks. ![]() |
