![]() Can anyone recommend an Avet model reel for trolling for striped bass?
Seems like there are a few models...and I like that they have left hand retrieve options. Thanks. |

![]() If it's going to be used for strictly trolling then get the 4.6 since you want the lower retrieve speed when you are fighting a fish.
If you want to use it to troll and jig, the 2 speed would be best. You troll in the lower gear and jig in the higher gear and when you are fighting a fish put it in lower gear. You don't need the MC cast versions unless you are going to be casting so I would pass on that.

![]() Gerry has it well stated there, the only thing I would suggest is that instead of the LX, look at the JX. same gear ratios, just a narrower spool. Has all the capacity you need for trolling & jigging stripers, but when fighting a fish, I find the narrower reels easier to deal with.

![]() You can also use the LX for tuna!!! Yes, I use an LX6 with 30# mono with 30# braid backing for day flat lining. Landed up to 70# LFT on it-no problems...

![]() If you're jigging, Black Hole is tough to beat. The Cape Cod Special 250 gram rod is all you will need and more for jigging NJ bluefin.
