Does anyone know where I can get a cast control cap for a trinidad 14 a.

You can try www.mikesreelrepair.com They are in Canada, I've purchased parts from them before. The shipping wasn't too bad, not great either. I guess if he has the part, and you need it bad enough............. oh well.

it controls the amount of free spool on a baitcasting reel. (if it's the piece i am thinking of). tighten it up and you have less free spool. loosen it for more free spool, one way to control backlashes if you are not good with your thumb. Loosen it too much and you are lookin to buy a new one

It also adjusts the side play of the spool shaft into the bearings. Rule of thumb is "no play no load". If its to tight the bearings will wear prematurely, if its to loose the spool will be sloppy.

Dfish, you should start reading the owners manual when you buy a reel.
