You can always check "The Shanty" for ice reports, but I'd consider finding other ways to fish. We have two consecutive cold days, but 50 degrees on Saturday could negate that. I'm not banking on seeing ANY ice this year, that way I won't be disappointed. I'll be the first one out there if there's anything safe to walk on, but it doesn't look like it's gonna be any time soon, if at all.

Two inches? My partner and I fell through three inches in Lake Hopatcong. Thank God we were only in 5 feet of water over mud bottom. We would of died. Wish you were there watching from shore. You would of became afraid enough to last you your entire life. Hypothermia almost killed us when we finally bellied our way to the shoreline. If you want to commit suicide, do it alone. Leave your boys home. Two years ago, a father and son died on Asssunpink Lake. Feel sorry for the Mrs. who lost a husband and son.

I'm North of you guys a bit and skim ice has been spotted on some shallow local ponds including the one on my property.

Fished from shore on Monday at a local lake I like to ice fish. Ice no where to be found but the fish were hungy. My son landed a bunch of snot rockets on one of my favorite jerk baits.

Ice fishing does not look promising this year so far. Be safe!

Hey CUZ, thanx for your concern. Next time you should be more careful on 3 inches of ice, I dont know, maybe tie yourself to a tree with heavy rope like my friends and I do. As for falling in, I have twice already. As for pulling people out of the icy depths, ive done that as well. You can run into a soft spot on the ice any given time. Pressure crack underneath you and POOF your gone. I always fish with friends, my boys, and use the BEST JUDGEMENT!!! If I want to fish I fish. FastEDDIE AFRAID, NEVER!!! But again thanx for your concern...................
