Default Casting Poppers and Plugs

Is there a trick to casting poppers so that the line does not get tangled with the hook? I've been casting poppers where every 3rd/4th cast the line is wrapped around the front hook. Switch to single hook, add a heavy leader, only leave the back hook on?

Looking for guidance.

Thanks in advance.

If your using a swivel encase it in surge or rubber tubing . This will hold it in place and prevent that hook from reaching it ! The tube must be slid over swivel and popper eye to stiffen properly .
This is a trick I’ve used for night popper fishing when this would occur !
