Electronics question
Looking to get my father a gift and seeing what everyone uses. Looking for a budget friendly electronics/mapping, he has a 20ft CC and is out of raritan bay/sandy hook. Any recommendations is greatly appreciated

Re: Electronics question
If he has a depthfinder / sounder, the Navionics app for his smart phone is a very affordable solution.

Re: Electronics question
Are you looking for a combo unit with depth finder and chart plotter and what is your budget?

Re: Electronics question
No doubt everyone has their preferences and experiences with different brands. I’ve had Lowrance and Garmin Units. I would definitely recommend Garmin over Lowrance based on my experiences. IMO Garmin is more reliable and much more user friendly. I would think any of the GPS Map models may suit your needs.

Re: Electronics question
I love Garmin too. But this is a gift. Who is running the transducer wire to the FF? Is he supposed to? Think about that.
A cheaper add on boater gift...? Rodholders for trolling. Outriggers for trolling. Night fishing underwater lighting? Trailering? Bunks? Winches? A new VHF with 2nd speaker to hear better? Remote camera mounted on boat to back down on ramp easier. Those are a few.

Re: Electronics question
Good choice for several reasons
- 9 inch will make it much better for split screen to show maps and fish finder at the same time - It uses Navionics maps - It has wifi so very easy to synch with the Navionics app on your phone and update the maps on your chart plotter.

Re: Electronics question
Garmin hands down is the most user friendly and a fair price. If your talking offshore someone else could give better info, but fishing Raritan and Sandy Hook couldn't be happier with the Garmin.
