75 fish 🎣 in 2.5 hours
Went ultralight jigging in a 71 degree tributary of a tributary of the Delaware River on the low tide during the river sunfish spawning run. Cut a trail to the last falls downstream from the dam. The briars cut me. Tide runners were stacked up below the waterfall waiting for the tide to come in so that they could continue swimming up the brook. I caught and released 65 red breasted sunfish, 7 white perch, 2 bluegills and a yellow perch with 1/32 oz Big Eye jigs and 1” twister tails on 2 lb test line. Catching 75 fish 🎣 in two and a half hours was amazing 🤩. I woulda, coulda shoulda caught a hundred but I started late, quit early and wasted too much time cutting a trail and tying lures onto my line. I’ll catch a hundred fish tomorrow. I would like to catch a 9” sunfish in order to win a NJ Skillful Angler Recognition Award but they don’t get that big in any of my spots.
