Default State Beaches in NJ

My family and I are coming to NJ next week, we usually go to Seaside Heights and last year went to Wildwood. I'm just looking for other options, we're planning this last minute. A few years ago I was there and we went to a state owned beach but I don't recall the name of it. We went there while we were staying in Pt Pleasant if that helps any.

Can anyone give some suggestions?

Thumbs up Re: State Beaches in NJ

Sandy Hook which part of the Gateway National Recreation Area has about 6 miles of some pretty nice beaches abd decent fishing aS well. $10 per day to park. Lots of places to get a bite and restrooms.

Island Beach State Park is south of Seaside Park. Nice with two bathing beaches. Sandy Hook is larger and Federal.

Since you are coming from the north, Sandy Hook would be your closest beach. Noting like Seaside though, so if you are looking for a boardwalk and rides this is not the place. There are however some cool places to vist on Sandy Hook. The oldest operational light house in our country, a old coast guard rescue station and a small wildlife musem.

PS - There is also one clothing option beach there called Gunnison so you might want to stear clear of that with the kids.
