Default Rising sun in the kayak

I don’t have a lot of experience at Assunpink, but so far this lake is my favorite of the three. Crystal clear water, not a lot of weeds and plenty of fishy spots. I made the decision to fish only plastic baits because I really want to learn how to fish them effectively. I used a 4” plastic worm wacky rigged, and after plenty of swing and misses, I finally got the hang of it. I caught about 8 bass all small the biggest was about 12” and 2 nice pickerel. Definitely a fun way to fish, the hits are light at times and sometimes they slam it. Great day on the kayak

Thumbs up Re: Rising sun in the kayak

Good looking fish man. Trying new things will only make you a better angler. I haven’t been to those lakes in a bunch of years. This report brings back some good fishing memories for me. Good stuff!

thanks fasteddie, the switch to freshwater has been alot of fun so far, catch or no catch. plus it also lets me by lots of new tackle. the Kayak burns alot less gas than my boat did....just have to keep paying my dues, learning the bodies of water and get to the big ones.

That lake is sweet when your on it, I never got any big fish on it. Very peaceful, I’ve heard it does have some good fish, I just never offered what they wanted. So clear, I don’t think I fish it correctly.

Godrew, I spoke to a guy at the launch and he said he’s gotten a few 5 pounders and a 7 from there. Of course that doesn’t mean it’s true, but why wouldn’t there be that size fish in that lake? Just about every time I paddled out from shallow to deeper water, I saw bass cruising around. Plenty of small minnows and small panfish. I’m no expert but I think there is a good one in there. I’m gonna try the dusk bite this week, I’m gonna throw frogs in a few spots that looked good last time I was there.
