Default Boating Safety Course

Just getting back into boating and fishing and need to take the Boating Safety Course. I went online and could not find any courses scheduled within a reasonable distance to Brick. Would prefer a one day "in classroom" course for my son and I.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thankz,
Frank

12:19pm. After further investigation I found that the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission has all the answers if anyone needs them.

Thanks again

West Marine has a boating school that offers the course all around the state at each store. Give the local one a call and they can help you out. I believe the school is Coast Boating School...

Just thought classroom would be easier then online because it's all done right there, lesson then test. But gonna explore both options, West Marine and online. Thanks for the input.

Check you PM Flip.

The Boater Safety program is TOTALLY run by the NJ State Police- not NJ Div of motor vehicle.

In fact if you do salt water you NEVER have to go to motor vehicle and waste money on that endorsement. You know that right?

BoaterExam.com is an excellent on line course to take. Also affiliated with Sea Tow too. You have to take the final exam in person with a NJ State Police certified instructor. You need to get an 80% or higher ( was 70% until December 2011) to pass the final exam.

With the right instructor, the in-person is much more informative. Some instructors and schools just stand there and read the book to you for 4 hours and then you watch a movie. They just take your money.

Thats a rarity. The demand is not there to justify.

What you can do is take an internet course from someone like Boater Exam. And them just go take the test.

A few guys ( I am one) give private proctored exams. It's more costly as you are treated like a regular 30 person Boater Safety class. with the State Police. I do them for $100 or more depending on location.

PM me if interested?
